At St. John’s we have several prayer ministries because we believe that prayer is the engine of the church:
Prayer Team
The goal of the prayer team is to continue Jesus’ ministry on earth today - in our community and beyond, through the power of the Holy Spirit. Under the authority of Jesus Christ, the prayer team leads folk to break down the enemy’s strongholds through repentance and prophetic revelations and to receive God’s blessings.
Prayer teams are available every Sunday after the main service or any other time by appointment. If you need prayer, then please contact us.
First Priority – Prayer and Praise
Once a month prayer time, typically the first Sunday evening of each month, is devoted corporate prayer for specific issues impacting our congregation, our community including other churches, our nation and the world. In our prayer, we both speak to the Lord and listen to the Lord.
Thursday morning prayer
Every Thursday morning, at 6am, there is a special devotional prayer time at St. John’s to intentionally worship and praise our amazing God, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Petitions are also offered for specific prayer requests by individuals and to larger corporate needs of the congregation.

Why do we pray?
God the Father expects us to pray for one another for healing, freedom from the oppression of sin and for His blessings to be poured out upon His people.
2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
Luke 4:18-19 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for He has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, and that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free, and that the time of the Lord’s favour has come.
James 5:16 Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.
1 Timothy 2:1-2 I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them.
